It would look really trick with that tappet cover you have. much better way imo will be better venting and better engine performance and provide better piston ring seal. Thats an ok way of crank case ventilation, even better still is a Vacu Pan, that way you can run it into your headers rather than bringing shitty gasses into your inlet. We cant point it out during service most times, as warranty thinks we are scamming them to get more work. It seems to be the only place these newer engines leak. It wont stop the ventilation from the tappet cover from getting clogged up again, but will help clean the gass of oil and there for help stop clogging of your inlet with crappy oily gasses it other wise would have sucked back into the even for reburning. Timing chain, nothing we have uses a belt. Look for cracks that may be the source of the problem. There could also be physical damage to your timing cover, preventing it from sealing properly. This is most likely an indicator of a bad timing cover gasket, which your mechanic can replace. Pretty much the hose from tappet cover goes into the catch can then you put on the exit hose from the catch can back to the inlet where the hose used to go. You may also observe a puddle of oil on the ground under your engine. So work out the problem first, but the hose from your tappet cover that goes back into the inlet is where you tape into when installing a oil catch can. Virtually the idea of it is to return unburned fuely gasses from blow by and air back out of your crank case back into the inlet whitest relieving engine pressure. It virtually catches oil and crap that gets blown or sucked up, and has place to store it. The catch can wont stop your crank case ventilation issues as such, unless you have no ventilation system currently? I suspect that some of the bolts in my timing cover to engine plate are incorrect, as some of the ones that dont go into the block cant be tightened, leading to an oil leak. it has the pcv on the oil filler cap and the pcv was blocked up. of 2 - Timing Cover Bolts - posted in Problems, Questions and Technical: Hi all, I am hoping one of you knowledgeable souls can help me out with an odd query on my 998 A plus. On my falcon the pcv blocked up on the dyno with oil and grime and pressure blew the tapet cover casket on high revs, was oily mess. You would have to work out why the crank case isnt venting first.Īnything related to crank case ventilation you would remove and clean out.
